If you did, it would cost you a lot more than the jackpot pays.

BEHOLD! you will lose exactly the number of dollars the house edge says you will! because this is how you calulate it.

Practically speaking, no you can’t. First, you’d have to fill out cards for every possible combination without making a single mistake. Then, you’d have to find someplace that would allow you the hours and hours it would take to feed those hundreds of millions of play stubs into the machine (not to mention the money needed to actually buy all those tickets.) Assuming you’d had all the time and money to do all that, you would be a guaranteed winner but still not necessarily make a profit – that would depend on how high the jackpot was and whether you have to split it with anyone else. As to the cost, it’s somewhere around 43 billion or so, I believe
