In general the rule of thumb is if you take your ticket lump sum, between state and federal tax you will lose approximately 35-40% between the two (depends on the state and their tax obviously). I used to sell lottery when I worked in a small mom & pop store and this is what the lottery commision here in CT told us.

none, because you’re not going to win it, I am.

At least 70. Depends on the tax rate at the highest income.

In Canada you’d get 135 000 000. That would be Canadian though, so 115 000 000 or so US.

If you take the cash/lump-sum payout it will be approximately 61.4 million dollars BEFORE taxes. After federal taxes you’ll be left with about 40.6 million. Then there’s state/local taxes depending on where you live. It’s still a lot of money, but it’s a far cry from the huge jackpot they advertise. Of course, if you take the annuity option you’ll get the full jackpot amount but you’ll pay taxes on the full amount as well, just spread out over a longer period of time. Most financial advisors will tell you to take the money up front and invest it and your return will be better than the annuity the lottery will buy.
