Ernie prayed to God, “Lord, let me win the lottery!”
When the lottery results came out, Ernie discovered that he didn’t win.
Week after week, Ernie prayed that he would win the lottery. Week after week, he wasn’t a winner.
Finally, during one of his prayer sessions, God called to Ernie and said, “Come on, Ernie! Meet me halfway…but a stinkin’ ticket!”

Yes I confess – I used to pray I would win the lottery, and “be a responsible steward with the money God had entrusted to me” – like I was going to trick God into giving me the winning numbers by committing to donate a certain percentage to charity!
Thankfully I have grown somewhat in my faith since then – not much more, but still!
God has got better things to do.
